The UFC officially announced its re-signing of former light heavyweight champion Quinton Jackson on tonight’s UFC Fight Night 58 broadcast at Jose Correa Arena in Barueri, Sao Paulo, Brazil. However, the signing didn’t come without controversy, as it appears the organization inked a deal with “Rampage” while the 36-year-old is still contractually obligated to Bellator MMA – at least according to a tweet from Bellator President Scott Coker. Jackson (35-11 MMA, 7-5 UFC) has spent his past three bouts under the Bellator MMA banner, and according to various reports, still has multiple fights left on his contract with the promotion. The UFC has historically avoided infringing on another promotions’ contractual rights, which is what makes the announcement of Jackson’s signing all the more curious.
