Conor McGregor said he was going to knock out Chad Mendes at UFC 189, and that’s exactly how it played out. “The Notorious” lived up to his word when he stopped “Money ” with strikes in the second round to win the interim UFC featherweight championship. McGregor (18-2 MMA, 6-0 UFC) implemented his wide arsenal of striking attacks to keep Mendes (17-3 MMA, 8-3 UFC) at bay on the feet and set up the fight-ending blow. He had to endure some damaging ground-and-pound along the way, however, before eventually catching Mendes to end the main event at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena
