Bryan Barberena took some momentum from the Sage Northcutt hype train when he defeated the previously unbeaten 19-year-old prospect in the opening bout of UFC on FOX 18’s main card. Barberena (11-3 MMA, 2-1 UFC) exploited some previously unseen holes in Northcutt’s (7-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) skillset and managed to shut down “Super” before winning the fight by second-round submission. Few people were aware of Barberena’s talents prior to the fight. He grabbed the attention of the MMA world against Northcutt, though, and will hope to use that momentum to build his career going forward
