Former PRIDE and interim UFC heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira made his retirement from MMA official today when he announced his more than 16-year career was over . UFC President Dana White encouraged Nogueira (34-10-1 MMA, 5-6 UFC) to walk away from the sport following his unanimous decision loss to Stefan Struve at UFC 190. White said a position with the UFC would be offered to Nogueira, and along with his retirement announcement it was revealed that he has accepted a job as a UFC Brazil ambassador. Nogueira is one of the most accomplished heavyweights in the sports history, and even though he went out on a three-fight losing skid, he is remembered fondly for his contributions to the sport. Following the announcement, several members of the MMA community reacted to the news.
