Recently, strawweight Tecia Torres sat down for a serious chat with her biggest fan: her mom. Torres said she would give MMA another year, and if something big didn’t happen, she would put the sport aside to use her college degree. Now, she won’t have to make that choice. “I’m just waiting for that knock on the door,” Torres (4-0) recently told MMAjunkie Radio. That knock on Wednesday came from the UFC, which signed a big group of stawweights from Invicta Fighting Championship, the all-female promotion that gave fighters like Torres a platform to blossom as a professional. In her previous bout at Invicta FC 6, Torres outpointed the highly regarded up-and-comer Rose Namajunas.
