William Gomis walked away with the victory Saturday in front of his home country crowd, though many viewers disagreed with the decision. On the UFC Fight Night 243 main card, Gomis (13-3 MMA, 3-1 UFC) defeated an aggressive Joanderson Brito (17-4-1 MMA, 5-2 UFC) by split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) in their featherweight bout at Accor Arena in Paris (via X ): As close as it can get @WilliamGomisMMA takes the split decision victory! #UFCParis pic.twitter.com/MpYK3ssvrZ — UFC (@ufc) September 28, 2024 Brito was highly aggressive particularly in the first half of the fight. He winged punches with massive heat behind them as Gomis largely tried to avoid the blows. Brito nearly pulled off a successful guillotine choke but the end-of-first-round bell blocked it. Brito continued his aggression in the second with his cardio holding up well.
