NEWARK, N.J. – Randy Brown didn’t exactly blow away the competition in his UFC debut, but when pushed to the limit by Matt Dwyer , the much-hyped prospect did just enough to win in a very close fight. After getting off to a slow start, Brown (7-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) put together two strong rounds to close the fight, defeating Dwyer (8-4 MMA, 1-3 UFC) by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28). The welterweight bout closed out the UFC Fight Pass-streamed preliminary card of today’s UFC on FOX 18 event at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. Subsequent bouts aired on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass. Brown seemed to have trouble finding his comfort zone in the opening round, as Dwyer disrupted his timing and negated the height and reach advantage Brown normally has over other welterweights.
