Dern (5-0), a 24-year-old Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and world-champion grappler, continued an undefeated start to her MMA career with a third-round submission victor y over Kaline Medeiros (8-6). The fight, which streamed on UFC Fight Pass from Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City, Mo., expectedly featured some grappling, but Dern, an LFA vet who turned pro just 16 months ago, also displayed some much-improved striking.
