Despite never before fighting in the weight class in the UFC, Calvillo (9-1-1 MMA, 6-1-1 UFC) got paired up with former title challenger and top-ranked contender Jessica Eye (15-8 MMA, 5-7 UFC) for her debut, and she capitalized on the opportunity placed before her with a unanimous decision win . The matchup was criticized for being positioned as a headliner on the card, which took place at UFC Apex in Las Vegas, and in terms of the quality of the bout, it did leave something to be desired. Any underwhelming feelings for Calvillo are quickly washed away by the upside of her situation, though. Calvillo immediately shoots up the rankings at 125 pounds and becomes a real factor at the top of her new division
