Another UFC championship doubleheader went down Saturday at UFC 255 with men’s flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo and women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko both defending their belts. In the main event, Figueiredo (20-1 MMA, 9-1 UFC) quickly dispatched of challenger Alex Perez with a guillotine choke in less than two minutes, kicking his title reign off in a positive and impressive fashion. The co-headliner, meanwhile, saw Shevchenko pick up a fourth consecutive defense of her 125-pound belt in a unanimous decision win over Jennifer Maia. Although the matchmaking after each event usually includes much speculation, UFC 255 was a rather rare one in that we seem to have a crystal clear idea of what’s next for both Figueiredo and Shevchenko after dominant wins, with UFC president Dana White revealing plans post-fight. Watch the video above for more thoughts and analysis on the future for both champs after UFC 255
