O’Connell (17-6 MMA, 2-2 UFC) landed a quick flurry of punches to open the light-heavyweight fight, and Perosh (15-9 MMA, 5-6 UFC) never seemed to recover. Ultimately, O’Connell got the win when his opponent and local favorite could no longer intelligently defend himself. After the UFC Fight Night 65 main-card fight, which streamed on UFC Fight Pass from Adelaide Entertainment Centre in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia, O’Connell explained why he wanted the fight to continue a little longer. “I could’ve kept teeing off on him,” O’Connell said.
