UFC Hall of Famer and Bellator ambassador Royce Gracie has picked up a host of honors during the course of his career, but we’re not sure too many of them saw him honored alongside a superhero. But that’s exactly what happened this week when Pocatello police chief Roger Schie used the occasion of his first anniversary in command to swear in seven reserve officers. The Idaho town’s police department saw crowd group gather to witness the swearing-in of the seven officers, who included among their number Gracie and actor Dean Cain, who played Superman and Clark Kent in “Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman” back in the mid-1990s. The reserve officers will help to provide training and outreach programs for the town’s police department, and will also receive law enforcement training. View this post on Instagram It's good to be a part of the boys in blue #represent A post shared by Royce Gracie (@realroyce) on Jun 25, 2020 at 8:38pm PDT Gracie (15-2-3 MMA, 11-1-1 UFC), whose achievements as one of the pioneers of MMA will live on forever thanks to his tournament victories at UFC 1, UFC 2 and UFC 4, shared his experience via a set of photos on his Instagram feed, saying, “It’s good to be a part of the boys in blue.” Speaking to ABC’s Local News 8, Gracie also said he wanted to promote the positive work being done by the majority of police officers following the death of George Floyd while in police custody. “One person did wrong,” he said.
