Wanderlei Silva Wanderlei Silva ’s career is suddenly taking off again. Sixteen months after the former PRIDE champion retired, and one week after he signed a contract with Viacom-owned Bellator, Rizin MMA has signed Silva for an April 17 event at Nippon Gaishi Hall in Nagoya, Japan. Silva, 39, won’t be competing in MMA, but will team up with a yet-undermined fighter for a “special grappling tag match, the rules for which will be announced soon, according to a press release issued today. The team will square off against another featuring MMA legend and former champ Kazushi Sakuraba and Hideo Tokoro.
