Thankfully for Pickett (25-11 MMA, 5-6 UFC), it’s a scenario he didn’t have to worry about. The 37-year-old bantamweight halted a three-fight skid and edged Francisco Rivera (11-6 MMA, 4-4 UFC) via narrow split decision in a UFC Fight Pass-streamed main card bout at The O2 in his hometown of London. Pickett, one of only two men to defeat current UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson, has picked up seven fight-night bonuses during his UFC/WEC career, but after struggling to register wins, retirement was on his mind. “I was fighting for my job in there, in my eyes,” he said after the event.
