Ciryl Gane was pretty compromised from the start of his UFC 310 fight against Alexander Volkov. Gane (13-2 MMA, 10-2 UFC) defeated Volkov for a second time this past Saturday at T-Mobile Arena – this time in a much closer fight that many observers thought he lost. In the post-fight news conference, Gane revealed that he broke his left toe from the first teep he threw in the fight, which heavily impacted his movement. The former interim heavyweight champion is known for being bouncy and light on his feet, but he spent large parts of the fight trying to fend off Volkov’s grappling. Gane took to Instagram to show that his injury was even worse than he anticipated as it turns out he didn’t just break one toe – but three of them. “It wasn’t only the big toe but also the two metatarsals that gave out on me at the beginning of the first round,” Gane said in French.
