Welterweight MMA veteran Roan Carneiro will soon receive $14,900 check from the Oklahoma State Athletic Commission, one month after it withheld 30 percent of his $50,000 purse for showing up late to a pre-fight physical, OSAC Executive Director Joe Miller today told MMAjunkie. “It’s a shame it was that large of a purse, but we had to stay with the system we normally do,” Miller said. According to Miller, in a consent order filed, Carneiro (19-9) took responsibility for violating rules with the OSAC, which today agreed to reduce his fine from $15,000 to $100 on the executive director’s recommendation. Miller said Carneiro agreed to the consent order rather than going through a formal hearing. “He admitted he was late and explained the situation,” Miller said. “I went over the reasons why it’s important to be on time, that he left a lot of people hanging, not knowing where he’s at.
