If you’re a touch skeptical about this whole feud between American Top Team teammates Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal suddenly springing up from out of nowhere, you’re not alone. After all, Covington, the former UFC interim welterweight champion, has taken his trolling schtick to Andy Kaufman-esque levels, and Masvidal’s management team is known for funneling its fighters to media members who are a little too open to going along with preferred storylines. Still, though, when both fighters appeared on Monday’s edition of “Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show,” the rift that has apparently developed between Covington and Masvidal at least seemed legit. For his part, Covington, who does not currently have his next fight lined up after negotiations for a shot at Kamaru Usman’s belt went south , believes that his “ex-best friend” Masvidal is not the type of person to be a friend through thick and thin.
