Rafael Carvalho Newly minted Bellator middleweight champ Rafael Carvalho would like to add kickboxing titleholder to his list of accomplishments. Fresh off a come-from-behind TKO win over now-ex-champ Brandon Halsey (9-1 MMA, 7-1 BMMA) at this past Friday’s Bellator 144 event, Carvalho (12-1 MMA, 3-0 BMMA) said he could be ready to fight in two months and welcomed the idea of a striking-only fight. “I don’t know the belt holder for 185 (pounds) at GLORY, but that’s something I’m interested in doing,” he told MMAjunkie. “I’d like to fight a kickboxing match and fight for that belt.” A kickboxing bout would certainly allow Carvalho to show off the skills that brought him the Bellator title. In the second round, he landed a picture-perfect kick to the liver that dropped Halsey to the canvas and forced a stoppage: “I’ve been training that kick for a while,” Carvalho said. “When we saw the opening, we didn’t waste any time.
