MFC 39 took place Friday night in Edmonton with heavyweight champion Anthony Hamilton retaining his title with a unanimous decision victory over Darrill Schoonover in the night’s main event. Tom Gallicchio won his fight with Kurt Southern, scoring a first-round rear naked choke victory, but it didn’t garner him the vacant lightweight strap as had been planned.
