Khamzat Chimaev was originally slated to face Paulo Costa in Saturday’s UFC 294 co-main event but Costa was forced out of the fight due to having surgery weeks before due to a staph infection. Former welterweight champion Kamaru Usman stepped up and accepted the fight with Chimaev on 12 days notice. UFC President Dana White announced that the winner would get a title fight against champion Sean Strickland , and the stakes couldn’t have been higher
