Shamrock, who competed in the first UFC event as part of a lengthy 17-year pro-fighting career, is in San Diego this week helping to promote Saturday’s Bellator 131 event. The Spike TV-televised show goes head-to-head with UFC 180, a pay-per-view offering from his former home. While Shamrock and the UFC have had a rocky relationship over the years, the 50-year-old suggested the new-direction Bellator, which is now under the leadership of former Strikeforce head Scott Coker, can truly compete with the UFC and in turn provide a better environment for all fighters.
