Jeff Monson On Christmas, Jeff Monson climbed into a cage an hour outside of Moscow to fight a man 20 years his junior in the 84th professional bout of his MMA career. It lasted less than a minute. The way it ended was, Donald Njatah Nya, a 23-year-old fighter from Cameroon, hit him just behind the ear with a right hand. For a moment the punch seemed to freeze Monson in mid-air – his hands still up in a defensive posture, his bulging, tattooed arms still stuck to his bulging, tattooed body – then he pitched forward and landed face-first on the mat. The referee rushed in to save him then.
