He has as strong a case for a title shot as almost anyone in the UFC, but he’s also a man who has had two shots at UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson and came up short both times. Benavidez (22-4 MMA, 9-2 UFC), who was on hand at media day for UFC 188, which takes place Saturday on pay-per-view from Mexico City Arena, says that he hasn’t moved past the goal of getting the title, but understands the complexities of the situation. “It’s just crazy, man,” Benavidez told MMAjunkie. “I’m just concentrating on life in general, getting married soon and everything. Not that fighting takes a back seat.
