Yoel Romero has had a string of unfortunate outcomes in his last couple of fights but his teammate Jorge Masvidal thinks he’s still the best middleweight. UFC 243 crowned a new middleweight champion when Israel Adesanya put on a performance of a lifetime, knocking Robert Whittaker out in the second round. But Masvidal thinks the damage Whittaker has taken from his two wars with Romero in their previous fights has taken a toll on the former champion. Whittaker defeated Romero twice. He had a closely contested battle at UFC 213 in 2017, then a proverbial war at UFC 225, where Romero was able to drop and badly hurt Whittaker on numerous occasions, but once again left his fate in the hands of the judges and lost a controversial split decision.
