Jon Jones has been getting a closer look at Dominick Reyes as he prepares for his next UFC light heavyweight title defense, and it doesn’t appear he’s very threatened by his potential next challenger. Although not official, many signs point to Reyes (11-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC) getting the next shot at 205-pound champ Jones (25-1 MMA, 19-1 UFC) sometime in 2020. The undefeated contender has put together a solid run to get in position to fight for the belt, and he’s been vocal that he thinks he’s the one to hand Jones his first real loss. Outspoken challengers have historically only proven to motivate Jones, and that appears to be the case again here. Jones took to social on Sunday and took some digs at Reyes and how he’s not as dangerous as some perceive (via Twitter ): Reyes put himself in position to get the fight with Jones following a knockout of former UFC champ Chris Weidman at UFC on ESPN 6 in October. It appeared to be a two-horse race for who would fight for the belt next, with Corey Anderson also making a case with his first-round TKO of Johnny Walker at UFC 244.
