With Khabib Nurmagomedov out of UFC 187 due to a knee injury, John “The Bull” Makdessi has stepped up to face Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone on the May 23 fight card in Las Vegas. Makdessi (13-3) is a nine-fight UFC veteran. The Canadian has won four of his last five fights and is coming off first-round finish of Shane Campbell at UFC 186 on April 25. Cerrone (27-6, 1 NC) is riding a seven-fight winning streak and is ranked third in the UFC’s 155-pound division. He’s coming off a razor-close decision win over former champion Benson Henderson at UFC Fight Night 59 in January. UFC 187 takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 23 and features two title fights
