Former light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz fought Magomed Ankalaev to a split draw in the UFC 282 main event leaving the 205-pound title vacant. The UFC 282 Pay-Per-View was supposed to headlined by a rematch between then-champion Jiri Prochazka and former titleholder Glover Teixeira but a shoulder injury forced Prochazka out of the fight just 17 days before the event. Expecting a long recovery following surgery, Prochazka vacated the championship and the Blachowicz and Ankalaev match was moved to a five-round bout for the vacant title. With no champion crowned at UFC 282, Teixeira and Jamahal Hill will compete for the light heavyweight championship at UFC 282 on January 21.
