Jon Fitch on Wednesday lost another opponent for his planned bout at World Series of Fighting 11 on July 5. WSOF executive vice president Ali Abdel-Aziz on Wednesday confirmed that Jake Shields had to withdraw from the fight with Fitch due to injury, following an initial report by MMAFighting.com . Shields was already the second opponent for Fitch, who had initially been matched with reigning WSOF welterweight champion Rousimar Palhares . Palhares, however, had to withdraw from the bout to support his mother, who is currently dealing with some serious health issues. Abdel-Aziz told MMAWeekly.com that the promotion is going to try and keep Fitch on the card. A search for a new opponent is underway, but as of the time of publication, the promotion had not yet settled on a new opponent.
