Former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor was found liable for sexual assault in civil court last week for an alleged incident in 2018. As expected, former opponents and MMA personalities weighed in on the situation, including lightweight champion Islam Makhachev . The rivalry and dislike between McGregor and Makhachev’s team, lead by former lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov , has been well documented. The build up to McGregor and Nurmagomedov’s UFC 229 showdown became personal. McGregor was stripped of the 155-pound championship due to inactivity and Nurmagomedov was booked to fight for the vacant title at UFC 223
