Islam Makhachev has no interest in the “BMF” title and thinks the UFC only books fighters to compete for it who are unable to win a real championship. After nearly four years in purgatory after the initial “BMF” title matchup between Jorge Masvidal vs. Nate Diaz, the promotion is bringing back the belt on July 29 for the Dustin Poirier vs. Justin Gaethje lightweight rematch at UFC 291 , which takes place at Vivant Arena in Salt Lake City and airs on pay-per-view. In addition to fighting for the strap, Poirier (29-7 MMA, 21-6 UFC) and Gaethje (24-4 MMA, 7-4 UFC) could be a potential title eliminator at 155 pounds. The strap is currently held by Makhachev (24-1 MMA, 13-1 UFC), and who had some strong thoughts about the situation.
