That’s sort of what Friday’s Invicta FC 16 co-main event has boiled down to: the unexpected. When current flyweight champion Barb Honchak (10-2) told Invicta President Shannon Knapp she should make an interim title in the division since she was unsure when she’d return to defend her belt after a recent move from Missouri to the Northwest, the boss took her up on it. And so Friday at Trindad Pavilion at Tropicana Las Vegas, Vanessa Porto (18-6) and Jennifer Maia (12-4-1) will vie for the interim belt on UFC Fight Pass. It’s an interesting scenario for Porto, from Brazil.
