It appears there will be some 209 in the 702 this summer for the filming of “The Ultimate Fighter 20.” With a new UFC contract and a promised title shot later this year, Gilbert Melendez (22-3 MMA, 1-1 UFC) has scored a head coaching spot on “TUF 20,” which features 115-pound female fighters in a tournament to crown a first-ever strawweight titleholder. Melendez will coach opposite lightweight champ Anthony Pettis (17-2 MMA, 4-1 UFC). The head-coaching gigs allow UFC fighters to choose their own assistant coaches, and Melendez is sure to provide some entertainment with his. “As for my staff, for sure I’ve got to go with my big brother Jake Shields since he brings so much experience to the table,” he said in the above video from our partners at Shoot Media. “He’s been here for so long, and no one outworks that guy.” Melendez is also bringing his standup coach, muay Thai trainer Jongsanan Woodenman, and two other notables: Nick Diaz and Nate Diaz .
