A corporate reshuffle sees UFC executive Garry Cook promoted to the position of UFC Chief Global Officer with responsibilities for “all international territories,” according to an initial report by MMAFighting.com . Cook was formerly in charge of operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, but the former Manchester City CEO will now have much further reaching responsibilities and be charged with spearheading the UFC’s global expansion. The main casualty of the reshuffle is the UFC’s former Executive Vice President and Managing Director for Asia, Mark Fischer, who has been released after four years in the job. Under his watch the promotion put on cards in Macau, Singapore, and Tokyo, as well as running a TUF: China series. At the start of the year, Fischer listed Seoul, Manila, Bangkok, Jakarta, and mainland China as potential destinations for future UFC events, although he did clearly state that they wouldn’t all happen in 2014, but it’s possible he might have paid the price for a lack of progress in these territories
