Mir’s last win came in 2011, and the former UFC heavyweight champion has now lost four consecutive bouts without being particularly competitive in any of them. Still, the UFC not only is giving Mir (16-9 MMA, 14-9 UFC) another fight, it’s putting him in the headlining slot against Antonio Silva (18-6 MMA, 2-3 UFC) at UFC Fight Night 61. For Mir, it’s the way he has performed that hurts more than the fact that he has been on a lengthy losing skid. “I’ve been given another opportunity by the UFC to go out there and show that I can still perform at a high level,” Mir told MMAjunkie at the World MMA Awards this past Friday in Las Vegas. “At the end of the day, we all want wins.
