It’s safe to assume former UFC middleweight champion and MMA great Anderson Silva will wrap up his career with the UFC. The 38-year-old fighter has signed a new 15-fight deal with the organization, according to Combate , essentially assuring his final fight will take place in the octagon. Although Silva (33-6 MMA, 16-2 UFC) is under no obligation to complete all 15 fights (and though the UFC can traditionally cut fighters at any point during a contract following a loss), the largely symbolic deal should carry Silva to retirement. Silva still had a number of fights left on his previous contract, which the new one replaced. “I had seven fights on my contract,” Silva told Combate. “I met (UFC executives) Lorenzo (Fertitta) and Dana (White) on Thursday, and that contract was canceled.
