Benavidez (23-4 MMA, 10-2 UFC), whose two UFC losses have come to champ Johnson (23-2-1 MMA, 11-1-1 UFC), cemented his status as the next-best 125-pounder when he scored a unanimous-decision victory over Ali Bagautinov (13-4 MMA, 3-2 UFC) on Saturday’s UFC 192 pay-per-view main card at Houston’s Toyota Center. Benavidez, who’s ranked No. 2 in the NOS Energy Drink MMA flyweight rankings , has now defeated four straight opponents since his latest title loss, in late 2013.
