Several years ago, Tamikka Brents was on her way to a carer in the United States Navy, which would include both competing in sports for the service and heading to various levels of sonar tech school for her specialty. She wanted to be sure she was ready for the difficult boot camp. It was 2006, and Brents was fresh off successful high school sports careers, so she knew how to work out. But her brother had a different idea.
