In an emotional video, a tearful Magana thanked her fans and promoter Combate Americas for their support and said she feels like “a very rich woman because I have a lot of time.” “I’m going to get better, and I’ll be fighting again soon,” Magana said in a video posted to YouTube . “Nothing will stop me, man.” Magana, 35, fell into a coma following complications from a back surgery that ruled her out of a fight against Kyra Batara at “Combate 35: Reinas.” In the buildup to the April 26 fight, Magana had dealt with severe back pain that was later revealed to be a herniated disc. When she didn’t respond to treatment, she was diagnosed with cauda equina syndrome, requiring her to undergo emergency surgery.
