Eduardo Dantas and Mike Richman For a brief amount of time, Eduardo Dantas figured he wouldn’t be fighting in tonight’s Bellator 137 co-headliner. Dantas (16-4 MMA, 6-1 BMMA), a former Bellator bantamweight champion, was scheduled to fight Mike Richman (18-5 MMA, 7-4 BMMA) in the Spike TV-televised bout at Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, Calif. However, when Richman missed weight and weighed 139.2 pounds at Thursday’s official weigh-ins, Dantas decided he wouldn’t fight his bigger opponent. Soon after the weigh-ins, though, the 26-year-old Brazilian changed his mind after his reps met with Richman’s. “I will fight after all,” he told MMAjunkie. “That’s independent of whether he made weight or not.” Dantas could get a shot at the belt and a chance to reclaim the title from Joe Warren, who defeated him via decision October, if victorious tonight.
