LAS VEGAS – Donald Cerrone admits it didn’t feel good to have Dana White show concern about his career, but he hopes to prove the UFC president wrong Saturday at UFC on ESPN 24 . Cerrone (36-15 MMA, 23-12 UFC), an octagon legend who owns records in multiple key UFC categories , hasn’t won in his past five bouts. He was supposed to fight Diego Sanchez in what many viewed as a favorable matchup, but now he meets late replacement Alex Morono (18-7 MMA, 7-4 UFC) in a welterweight bout at the UFC Apex that airs on ESPN following prelims on ESPN+. After his most recent fight, a draw with Niko Price at UFC Fight Night 178 in September that was later overturned to a no contest, White expressed it was time to have a conversation with Cerrone about “stopping” his time as an active fighter, even if it would “crush him and break his heart.” According to Cerrone, that conversation never took place. White’s initial comments got back to him, though, and he said it resonated.
