Dana White ‘s Contender Series began in 2017 as a feeder promotion for the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Each event features unsigned fighters competing for a chance at a UFC contract. At the conclusion of the night of fights, the UFC president hands out UFC contracts to the fighters that most impressed him. On Tuesday, following DWCS Week 2, all five winners on the fight card were awarded the opportunity to compete in the big show. The promotion has grown into something bigger than just farm system for the UFC. It has its own following and creates fan favorites
