Chris Weidman’s unexpected double knee surgery and withdrawal from UFC 173 has forced UFC officials to shake things up, according to company President Dana White. News surfaced late this past month that Weidman would not be able to defend his middleweight championship against Lyoto Machida at the UFC’s annual Memorial Day weekend event on May 24 in Las Vegas. Shortly after announcing bantamweight titleholder Renan Barao would fill the main-event slot with a title defense against T.J. Dillashaw, White tweeted that he has “more good news coming.” But since then, no news has come to light, and White says that’s because nothing is ready to be officially announced at this time. “I tweeted about the fights on (May 24) and then I said I’ve got more fun stuff coming,” White told MMAjunkie.
