When UFC president Dana White teased the concept of “Fight Island,” it was easy to imagine an extravagant setup at an exotic locale, with observers sipping drinks in beach chairs while taking in a cool ocean breeze as UFC cards played out. Then came the “womp womp” letdown of an announcement that “Fight Island” was simply Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Instead of some random tropical locale, it was simply a spot the UFC had already visited on multiple occasions – and the last time they did, for UFC 242, everyone involved sweltered in extreme desert heat, which is far from the picture of island paradise. But maybe that won’t be the case this time around
