UFC President Dana White admits that it was tough and uncomfortable to watch Saturday’s UFC 173 pay-per-view opener between lightweights James Krause and Jamie Varner . With Varner clearly injured early in the fight – MMAjunkie later learned he broke two bones in his foot and tore ligaments – some hard-to-watch moments followed. Cageside fans gasped as Varner threw haymakers while his foot continually collapsed underneath him. White admitted it was tough to witness, but a gutsy and remarkably resilient Varner never surrendered in that opening round. “Usually guys quit,” White said after the event at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena (check out his full post-UFC 173 media scrum below).
