The promotion rolled out three new headlining bouts as well as a marquee rematch with Ryan Bader (27-5 MMA, 5-0 BMMA) vs. Cheick Kongo (30-10-2 MMA, 12-2 BMMA) for the heavyweight title at Bellator 226, a featherweight title bout/grand prix opening round matchup between Patricio Freire (29-4 MMA, 17-4 BMMA) and Juan Archuleta (23-1 MMA, 5-0 BMMA) as well as Lyoto Machida (26-8 MMA, 2-0 BMMA) vs. Gegard Mousasi (45-7-2 MMA, 3-1 BMMA) at Bellator 228, then Andrey Koreshkov (22-3 MMA, 13-3 BMMA) vs. Lorenz Larkin (20-7 MMA, 2-2 BMMA) at Bellator 229.
