UFC middleweight Cung Le will become the first fighter to appeal a failed drug test result found by the promotion. After questions raised by MMAjunkie about the testing procedures utilized at UFC Fight Night 48, UFC President Dana White today told ESPN.com that the promotion is linking up a third-party arbitrator to hear the appeal . “He has a certain time to file his intention to appeal,” UFC COO Lawrence Epstein added. “An arbitration panel would be set up, he’ll make his case, arbitration will make its decision and that will be the end of it.” Le’s manager, Gary Ibarra, told MMAjunkie his client will appeal the promotion’s finding that he had an elevated level of human growth hormone in his system following a fourth round TKO loss to Michael Bisping in their headliner at Macau’s Cotai Arena. Usually, appeals for positive drug tests are handled by an event’s overseeing athletic commission, but because UFC Fight Night 48 was regulated by the promotion in lieu of a formal regulator, the promotion will handle the job
