Donald Cerrone LAS VEGAS – With a face marked up from a fight, a few beers in front of him and a mouthful of dip, Donald Cerrone was in his element at the post-fight news conference following his his UFC 187 win over John Makdessi . Compared to a lot of his fights, Cerrone’s (28-6 MMA, 15-3 UFC) jaw-breaking TKO of Makdessi (13-4 MMA, 6-4 UFC) was a lighter day’s work. But it was far from easy, especially considering that he was plagued by injuries in his pre-fight camp. While he doesn’t foresee any surgeries in his future (they’d sideline him too long, Cerrone says), he’s content to wait for UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos to return from his torn MCL and get the title shot he longs for. He made sure to address that desire to UFC matchmaker Joe Silva after UFC 187. “Absolutely,” Cerrone said at the post-fight news conference.
