Filed under: News Combate Americas’ one-night, eight-man Copa Combate bantamweight tournament took place tonight, and Levy Saul Marroquin took home the $100,000 grand prize. The event, which took place at the Grand Oasis Cancun in Cancun, Mexico, aired on NBCSN following prelims on NBCSports.com. Marroquin won Copa Combate, created as a throwback to UFC 1 , after originally being listed as an alternate. He was added to the tournament when one fighter didn’t make weight and went on to win three fights in one night, including a unanimous decision over John Castaneda in the final.
