For the first time since March, the state of Texas is accepting licensure requests for combat sports events, including mixed martial arts. In a document obtained by MMA Junkie on Tuesday, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) announced its entry into the early stages of reinstatement as of Friday, Oct. 2. The declaration opens the door for promoters to begin the process of applying to hold events within the Lone Star State. Like many other governing bodies that have resumed operations during the COVID-19 pandemic, the TDLR has implemented a handful of new protocols to deal with minimizing the pandemic’s spread.
