Despite being promised to Michael Chandler next, no one actually knows who Conor McGregor will really fight upon his return. The former two-division champion has voiced his desire to move on from Chandler and suggested names such as Justin Gaethje, Nate Diaz, Jake Paul, and even KSI. Dana White continues to insist that McGregor is just “f**king with” Chandler, and that’s who he’ll fight when he (eventually) returns, but fans aren’t buying it. And it’s not just fans speaking out. Former UFC champion Chuck Liddell weighed in on the drama and his vote is for a rematch with Diaz. “All those would be an interesting fight but I think Nate Diaz, run it back to do it one more time. That’d be fun to watch,” Liddell told TMZ this week. ”It will be fun. I think it will be real competitive, I think it’s a good one to come back to.” Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz are 1-1 in their previous fights McGregor and Diaz have been intertwined since they first fought in 2016. Diaz stepped in on short notice after Rafael dos Anjos was injured. In that fight, McGregor suffered his first UFC loss via second-round submission. The pair ran it back a second time five months later. This time it was McGregor who won via a majority decision. That decision still causes controversy amongst fans who are split about who really won the fight. Diaz recently left the UFC in order to box Jake Paul, a bout he lost.
